കണ്ണൂര്‍ ഗാന്ധിയെന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വിപി അപ്പുക്കുട്ടന്‍ പൊതുവാളിന് (99) പത്മശ്രീ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു.1942-ലെ ക്വിറ്റ് ഇന്ത്യ സമരത്തില്‍ അപ്പുക്കുട്ടന്‍ പൊതുവാള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തിരുന്നു. സമൂഹത്തിലെതാഴെതട്ടിലുള്ളവരുടെ ഉന്നമനത്തിനായി കഴിഞ്ഞ എട്ട് പതിറ്റാണ്ടായി തുടരുന്ന പ്രയത്നത്തിനാണ് പുരസ്കാരം. കളരിയുടെ മർമം – എസ്.ആർ.ഡി.പ്രസാദ്ന് പത്മശ്രീ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു.കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമേറിയകളരികളിൽ ഒന്നായ കണ്ണൂരിലെ വളപട്ടണത്തെ ഭാരത് കളരിയുടെ ഗുരുക്കളും കളരിപ്പയറ്റ് സംബന്ധിച്ച 5 പ്രശസ്ത ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ രചയിതാവുമാണ്. കളരിപ്പയറ്റിനുള്ള കേന്ദ്ര സംഗീത നാടക അക്കാദമിയുടെ ആദ്യദേശീയ പുരസ്കാര ജേതാവാണ്. കേന്ദ്ര സാംസ്കാരിക വകുപ്പിന്റെ സീനിയർ ഫെലോഷിപും ലഭിച്ചു. 2021ൽഫോ‌ക്‌ലോർ അക്കാദമി ഫെലോഷിപ് നൽകി ആദരിച്ചിരുന്നു. സി ഐ ഐസക് (സാഹിത്യം, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം), ചെറുവയല്‍ കെ രാമന്‍ (കൃഷി) എന്നിവരാണ് പത്മശ്രീപുരസ്കാരം നേടിയ മറ്റ് മലയാളികള്‍.Four Keralites(two from Kannur) honoured with the Padma Shri, thefourth-highest civilian honour in India, on the eve …
