Tagore Theatre – a cultural edifices of Thiruvananthapuram City

Owned and managed by the Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PRD), the Tagore Centenary Hall, popularly known as Tagore Theatre is conveniently situated close to the heart of the Capital City of Thiruvananthapuram.

The theatre is one of the longstanding cultural edifices of Thiruvananthapuram city. Situated on a sprawling five acre land, marked by a variety of flowering and fruit trees, the theatre over the years has hosted many events. It is a regular venue for the International Film Festival of Kerala and has hosted national and international drama festivals and umpteen number of cultural events of varying scale and significance.

The theatre, which underwent renovation as part of modernization of Tagore Centenary Halls project across the country, now has a 3000 sq. ft stage with a seating capacity for 905. The air-conditioned theatre is also equipped with enhanced light and audio system and has a digital projection system.

The functioning of the theatre is managed through the the Cultural Development Office of I&PRD, which is headed by the Cultural Development Officer. The day-to-day functioning of the theatres is taken care of by the Manager. Hosting of events, bookings and related matters are handled by the manager.
