23 വർഷത്തോളം അച്യുതൻ നായർ സ്വന്തമെന്ന പോലെ കൊണ്ടുനടന്നതും 25 വർഷംമുൻപ് വിറ്റുപോയതുമായ കാർ ആണ് 84–ാം വയസ്സിൽ അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി ഇൻഡിഗോ ബ്ലൂ നിറമുള്ള വിന്റേജ് കാർ കൺമുന്നിൽ എത്തിയത്. 1959 മോഡൽ അംബാസഡർ കാറിന്റെ തൃശൂർ റജിസ്ട്രേഷൻ നമ്പർ കണ്ടതും ആ കണ്ണുകൾ സന്തോഷത്താൽ നിറഞ്ഞു. മക്കൾ അജിത്തിനെയും സുജിത്തിനെയും കണ്ടതോടെ കാര്യം മനസ്സിലായി. എപ്പോഴും സർപ്രൈസുകളുമായി അച്ഛനു മുന്നിൽ എത്തുന്നവർ ഇത്തവണ ഫാദേഴ്സ് ഡേയിൽ അച്ഛനു നൽകുന്ന അപൂർവ സമ്മാനമായിരുന്നു അത്.
മഹാകവി വള്ളത്തോളിന്റെ സഹോദരിയുടെ മകൻ ഡോ.വി.ആർ.മേനോന്റെ സഹായി ആയിരുന്നു അച്യുതൻ നായർ. ചേർപ്പിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന ജാനകി ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ ഡോക്ടറുടെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലായിരുന്നു. 1968ലാണ് ഡോക്ടർ ഈ കാർ വാങ്ങുന്നത്. മദ്രാസിൽനിന്ന് തൃശൂരിൽ എത്തിച്ച കാർ അങ്ങനെയാണ് അച്യുതൻ നായരുടെ കൂട്ടായത്. അന്ന് കറുത്ത നിറമായിരുന്നു കാറിന്. അച്യുതൻ നായരുടെ വീട്ടിൽ തന്നെയാണ് കാർ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്. മക്കളുടെ കുട്ടിക്കാലത്തും ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ നല്ലൊരു പങ്കിലും സഹചാരിയായിരുന്നു അംബാസഡർ. വാങ്ങി 23 വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു ശേഷം ആ കാർ ഡോക്ടർ വിറ്റു. പിന്നെയും 2 വർഷത്തിനു ശേഷം അച്യുതൻ നായർ ജോലി നിർത്തി.
അച്യുതൻ നായരുടെ മനസ്സിൽ കാർ ഓർമയായി മാറിയെങ്കിലും മകൻ സുജിത്ത് ആ കാറിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ആദ്യം വടക്കാഞ്ചേരി സ്വദേശിയാണ് കാർ വാങ്ങിയത്. അവിടെച്ചെന്ന് കാർ ഇടയ്ക്കു കാണും. പല തവണ വാങ്ങാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും നടന്നില്ല. വർഷങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം മാവേലിക്കര സ്വദേശി കാർ വാങ്ങിയെന്നറിഞ്ഞ് അവിടെയെത്തി. അച്ഛനു സമ്മാനിക്കാനാണെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതും കാറുടമയ്ക്ക് പൂർണസമ്മതം. അധികം വിലപേശലിനു നിൽക്കാതെ അദ്ദേഹം കാർ കൈമാറി.
A rare gift to 84 year old father, when children present Ambassador car driven by father for 23 years & was sold 25 years ago… on Father’s Day
Achyuthan Nair did not understand anything at first when the indigo blue colored vintage car stopped in the yard of the house before 12 o’clock in the night. Seeing the Thrissur registration number of the 1959 model Ambassador car, his eyes were filled with joy. At the age of 84, the car that Achuthan Nair carried as his own for 23 years and sold 25 years ago unexpectedly came before his eyes. When his children, Ajith and Sujith, got out of the car he understood the matter. It was a rare gift given to father on Father’s Day by those who always come to their father with surprises.
Achyuthan Nair was the assistant of Dr. VR Menon, the sister’s son of Mahakavi Vallathol. Janaki Hospital was owned by the doctor who worked in Cherp. The doctor bought this car in 1968. Achuthan Nair drove this car which was brought to Thrissur from Madras. The car was black in color at that time.
